Prayer Request

Knowing that most of you no longer (or never have) visited the blog I set up for you all when we moved out here, I wanted to repost today's blog here. I figure the below mentioned family has done so much for Christians, that it is only right that we do all we can to help them now.
-----------------------------------------------
I had been planning many observations and reviews for my next blog posting on here, but after hearing the tragedy that struck one of the biggest names in Christian music...it all seemed irrelevent.

For those who haven't heard, Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter Marie Sue was killed in an auto accident this week. An article can be found at FOX News.

Other than his contribution to Christian music, the Chapman family have been active in missionary work in China which has included the adoption of three children. They have also formed Shaohannah's Hope, "a foundation and ministry to financially assist thousands of couples in adoption."

This tradegy hit me hard and I cannot imagine what this family is going through. My prayers are with them and the sole purpose of posting this blog is that you will stop and say a prayer for them as well.

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all to soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

They're Grrrrrrrreat!

Now that Jacob has hit the 5 month mark, we thought it would be a good time to break out the rice cereal (thanks again Bryan & Jill) and see how Little Man would do with some "real" food. We were both surprised that that he did quite well with it. No fuss. No real mess. No spitting it out. He took to it very well actually. Next weekend we'll bring out the veggies. That is when the real fun should begin!

The first bite!

Es bueno!

Mommy spooning out some gruel.

"Food goes here."

"When Daddy makes this face..."

...I make this face!"

Cleaning up.

"Thanks for cooking mommy!"

A very satisfied customer (and smiling dad's favorite smile).

Five Months Old!

Hard to believe that it was around this time last year when we first began telling family about Little Man. Now he is five months old! Craziness!

Not much new to report on. He is wrestling Grover (of Jim Henson fame) at the moment and winning (I think). If Grover had ears, he'd be deaf. I think I may be going deaf, at least, from the screams.

He may be teething. Drool comes from Jacob like water comes from Willy Water Bug (obscure reference that only 1-3 people may get). It is also a battle to remove objects from his mouth including his hands. His sleep pattern has gone off the tracks too this week. We read that all of those wonderful things together could be signs of teething. That and we felt protruding objects coming from his gums. Possibly...we hadn't felt his gums before that. It is similar to trying to figure out if the milk smells bad because I don't normally sniff my milk.

After Jacob came home with his new hair style, we became more suspicious of his involvement in the new "Hell's Babies" playgroup.

ROCKER JAKE!

Texas Ready!

"Remember buckaroos to keep the powder in your footsies dry. Yippie-ki-ya-yay!"

Jacob conducts a meeting with a clone of daddy's old bear, Grover( not of Jim Henson fame).

"You put your right foot in..."

"Baby let me be, your lovin' teddy bear..."

Never let go Jack!

And we'll finish it off with my three favorite.

Looking Cute in My 'Ralls!

Not too much to report on for this week. We are all doing well here. Jacob slept ten hours last night! Of course this was after him waking up almost every two hours the previous night and not taking a nap over 20 minutes yesterday. Either way, we got to sleep so it is all good.

This week while on his stomach, Jacob propped himself up on his knees and hands and made on very small move forward. And it wasn't a lunge. Very exciting. Of course after that he buried his head and was worn out. Yesterday I was letting him stand up and I removed my hands and he remained upright for just a few seconds. I tell you, the kid will be driving in no time.

He still loves to talk and talk. That and drool. He's big on the drool.

The baby foot trap can be purchased online.

Another milestone: heat vision!

"HELLLLOOOOOO!"

Testing the high chair.

Not a picture of Jacob, but when I took him out to see them he got really excited.

Looking cute in his 'ralls.

"Welcome to Jacob Enterprises. How may I assist you?"

"Farmers Fight!"

The big moment.

So much work makes Jacob tired.

New Feet & Bear Wrestling!

Jacob has survived his first plane and experienced his first trip to the Lone Star State! Though he could only listen to me talk about Blue Bell Ice Cream, he was very excited to one day taste it's goodness.

The plane ride itself wasn't so bad for Jacob. The very first leg of the trip was rough for several reasons (woke up from his nap abruptly, past feeding time, confused parents). He did better with the other flights and even ended up flying solo with mommy and the final flight home. Long story that I am still not up to revisiting right now.

Everyone in Texas thought he was so adorable, sweet, quiet, and all those wonderful adjectives that we hope will stick with him through the years.

The past few weeks have involved Jacob becoming more verbal, more mobile and discovered his feet which is apparently cooler to him than his recently discovered hands. He can stay in the sitting position much longer without support (yes we are right there for the wobble still) and loves to stand up. This kid has very strong legs. He doesn't hate his belly time anymore. He can easily spin himself around on his back or belly. We think crawling is right around the corner.

Anywho, enough of the narrative. Let's get to the real reason all of you come here, because I know most of this isn't read because of questions that are asked :) Beware: since I was too busy to update last week, there are alot to see. Blog note: I did not put the bear on top of Jacob as has been suggested.

It was beside him and he started playing with it.

"Hey, what's beyond the blanket?"

"Bellytime is for big boys like me!"

He works hard and he sleeps hard.

The Legend of Jacob grew the day he fought that grizzly.

"How does a bear hug feel now, Blackie?!!"

"I scream in the face of danger!"

Jacob's patented "nose suck".

The victor!

"Clap our feet and walk with hands, right?"

Those blue eyes are gonna melt hearts someday. Don't worry Bryan, he knows he's promised to your daughter.
