Week of February 10, 2008 (2 months old): Part 1 & 2

2/18/08 UPDATE: I have added a few more photos for Week 8. They should be at the beginning of the slideshow.

Regarding his length, the nurse practioner said that he was on the smaller size but "what do your expect when both the parents are short." Ouch. I may not be the tallest fella around, but I used to be quick as lightening...before the asthma, bad knee, and back surgery slowed me down. So take that nurse practioner. My mom thinks I'm special.

Anyway, she was impressed with Jacob and his head control. Jacob decided she was nice enough to tell a story to as she looked him over. He might have not been so nice had he known what was coming. Jacob received two shots today (Hib, Pneumococal Conjugate, Hep B, and DTaP vaccines) and needless to say he wasn't thrilled. Poor little guy cried louder than I had ever heard from him. He has been pretty puny since then, but at his 6 o'clock feeding he was smiling and laughing again.

He has been having a lot of fun playing on his Baby Einstein mat. It has a light that hangs over him that flashes colors and plays music when it is moved. This week I took all of his chain links and connected them from one side of the mat to the other so that they hang a little bit above his hands. He can know grab & pull or swing at them and make the music play on his own which he thinks is pretty neat. I always say he is "working in the mines" when he is on his mat. Not sure why. Probably because I sing "Hi-Ho" from Snow White while he plays (the dwarfs worked in the mines).
